+++ VIMEO STAFF PICK !!! +++ On Thursday 07/03/13, I got a nice email telling me that TXT ISLAND has been selected by Vimeo as one of their 'STAFF PICKS'. This led to an immediate spike of around 12000 views and a good few hundred 'likes' in the 24 hours following the announcement. Thanks Vimeo, and all those who viewers who have enjoyed and responded to the film.
+++ A NEW FILM ONLINE NOW !!! +++ If you enjoyed your visit to TXT ISLAND, then you may wish to embark on another typographical animated adventure... I've just released THE FUTURA GOLD episode 01 to YouTube; as the title suggests, this is the opening episode of a new web series and is a must-see for all TXT ISLAND fans.
As a special treat, I've embedded the new movie here too...
+++ TXT ISLAND ON DVD +++ TXT ISLAND has been selected as one of the 10 films on the new 'Best of Animation 5' DVD. The compilation disk is put-together by the good people of the Stuttgart Film Festival. (The film was included in competition at last year's 2010 edition of the festival.) I was delighted to receive my 20 copies of the DVD, they are also available for purchase on-line here.
+++ SAATCHI GALLERY SCREENING +++ Since being included in the 2010 'Craftwork' Programme of the ONEDOTZERO festival, TXT ISLAND has received many additional screenings at festivals and events around the world. I've just heard that on May 9th 2011, my film will be shown at London's Saatchi Gallery as part of the COLLECT Contemporary Art Fair.
This little film has come a long way since it was released in May 2009. Over 132,000 viewers have watched this on YouTube, and there have been numerous big screen appearances too. TXT ISLAND has played to cinema audiences at over 30 film festivals and events around the world.
TXT ISLAND was selected as a FINALIST in the 'Best Animated Short Film' category of the 2010British Animation Awards (Known as the BAAs). Previously, the film was also a FINALIST for 'Best Animated Short' at the 2009 Rushes Soho Shorts Festival and a 'Runner-up' at the Danish Born Shorts Festival. The film was also selected for the prestigious Annecy and Stuttgart Animation festivals amongst many others (See the 'Screenings' page for further details).
In September 2010 I was invited to attend the Animatti event in Sardinia where I hosted a few stop-motion animation workshops and did a talk about TXT ISLAND and my other work. The Animatti event was very special and I was particularly taken with Sardinia; the town of Alghero in particular.
Our model wears the classic TXT ISLAND 'logo' T-shirt, seen here in black but also available in many other colours at the TXT ISLAND shop.
